Med-Safe is a software enabled medication cabinet and cart access system that provides secure, auditable control over access to medication storage areas. The system ensures that only appropriately authorised users can access medication drawers, and that all access events are recorded in a tamper- evident- audit trail.

The solution enables drawers to be opened directly from software without an exposed physical lock. The system continuously monitors drawer status (open/closed) and provides visual and audible alerts where drawers remain open beyond configured time thresholds, reducing the risk of diversion, loss, or contamination

The problem with legacy systems...

Traditionally, medication has been stored in workstations that are secured via either a standard lock and key, or more recently by some form of pin-code lock. Pin code locks in particular cause many issues due to their lack of suitability for this environment.

Some of the issues with traditional key or pin-code locks:

  • Not easy to tell when a door is left unlocked.
  • Pin code can become insecure, and overshared, so access is not manageable.
  • Batteries for PIN locks can be unreliable; locks can fail regularly and create a second administration point.
  • Physical doors can be cumbersome and require more space to use.
